Your Imbalanced Gut May Be Causing Your Symptoms

Do you feel like you have been punched in the guts?

Maybe not but when you feel fatigued, bloated, or have decreased energy, poor sleep, poor stamina, body aches, and memory difficulties, this is not “old timer’s” disease.

These symptoms represent early signs of chronic inflammation which, when ignored, can lead to autoimmune diseases, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, and dementia.

I have talked about how hormones can play a role in how you feel but the more common cause involves a system that contains more cells than any other part of your body…Your gastrointestinal system.

That intricate pipe stretching from your mouth to where the sun doesn’t shine is your body’s first line of defense. For that barrier to be healthy there needs to be microbial diversity, a thick mucosal barrier, strong epithelial tight junctions, and low levels of the harmful bacteria and the toxins they produce.

In our day-to-day lives, we get exposed to antibiotics, excessive alcohol, smoking, stress, lack of sleep, intense exercise, artificial sweeteners, saturated fats, glyphosate. These slowly start to erode the protective mucous lining of our intestines which leads to an overabundance of toxin-producing bacteria breaching the barrier. These bacteria release a toxin known as LPS (Lipopolysaccharide). This is the biggest contributor to chronic inflammation and fuels the inflammation that leads to autoimmune disease, cancer, heart disease, and dementia. Also, the breakdown of the intestinal barrier allows foreign substances into your bloodstream that become the source of many presumed allergies.

Those nagging symptoms we usually attribute to being over 40 and fatigued are actually low levels of chronic inflammation most often originating here… the gastrointestinal system.

The disruption of the gut microbiome has been implicated in many conditions such as obesity, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, type II diabetes, and colorectal cancer. As we gain a deeper understanding it is clear that a balance in that biome is essential in relieving those signs and symptoms of chronic low-grade inflammation.

If you are wondering why a 20-minute visit with your doctor only leads to more medications and little results, it’s because one of the major root causes of your problems is not being addressed.

Inflammation is like a river. You drown not by falling in a river, but by staying submerged in it.

With purpose-driven testing, nutrition, and lifestyle change you can alter your epigenetics to bring your body into balance. You can dampen chronic inflammation, help your body recover quicker, and supercharge your immune system.

This does not take years to accomplish. You don’t have to starve yourself or exercise hard to lose weight.

At WPR Medical, we will design your personalized comprehensive 12-week health plan. Through an extensive history and some specific genetic testing, we can take the guesswork out of your food, nutrients, and exercise plan.

Our four-step programs are for committed and coachable people who are looking to transform their lives.
